FOIP – Personal Access Requests
You can request records under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (the FOIP Act).
This service is used to make a FOIP request to the department of Health and the department of Mental Health and Addiction only. To make a FOIP request to any other department of the Government of Alberta, please use the FOIP Request Service.
Do not submit requests for "Health Information" using this site. For personal health access requests please visit the Alberta Netcare EHR website.
The FOIP Request Service allows applicants to submit and track FOIP requests, pay fees, provide identification and documents, and receive response packages – all within a secure environment.
In order to deliver this enhanced service and protect your privacy, you will need an Alberta.ca Account to submit a FOIP request through the FOIP Request Service.
A Personal Access Request is a request for access to records that are the personal information of the applicant or an individual you are authorized to represent. If you are requesting access to records that do not contain personal information about yourself or an individual you are authorized to represent, please submit a General Access Request.
There is no initial fee to submit a personal access request, but fees may apply for providing the requested records.
Please read Completing a Personal Access Request and Submitting a Personal Access Request before submitting your order.
The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (the FOIP Act) provides a method to request records held by public bodies that is not available by other means. If you want to make a request to another public body (such as a municipality or a police service), please contact the appropriate FOIP Office.
