Alberta.ca AccountThe vehicle registration certificate is proof that the vehicle is currently registered. Licence plate expiry stickers are no longer required as of January 1, 2021.
You can renew your vehicle registration online if:
- You have a Class 3 passenger vehicle registration
- Your vehicle is a car, light truck, van or motorhome
- Your vehicle is not registered as a fleet or company vehicle
- Your address has not changed
- Your registration has not been expired for more than 12 months
- Your vehicle has valid insurance
- You want to renew your vehicle registration for one year
- You have no outstanding fines (moving or non-moving) including Immediate Roadside Sanction penalties, Criminal Code or federal statutes fines, arrears with Maintenance Enforcement Program or motor vehicle debts.
Once your purchase has been completed, you can download your vehicle registration certificate from My Digital Downloads on the My Account section.

Attention: Initial digital download of this product/service is only available between 6:00 am and 10:00 pm. If you are processing this request outside of these hours, your initial digital download will be available tomorrow at 6:00 am. Please note that it is an offence to alter or falsify, to be in possession of, or to use an altered or falsified document.
Refunds:
If the information on your Motor Vehicle file is not up to date, you must visit a registry agent to have the service completed. No refunds will be provided for this product and you will be responsible for the fees to update your vehicle registration certificate.
If the information provided does not match what is recorded in the Motor Vehicles System, you will not be able to proceed online and you will need to visit a registry agent.
