In criminal matters, this search of the Court’s information is not a criminal record check. It can only show the records the Court has about an individual’s interactions with the Courts of King's Bench of Alberta. Criminal record checks and vulnerable sector checks are available from police services.

Response times for search results will vary depending on the volume and complexity of the search.
The CJS Contact Centre may provide you information related to next court appearance, criminal charges, publication bans, etc. free of charge. Call 1-855-738-4747.
Details:
- All name searches are province wide and court files are specific to a location. Do not use this service for searches in Alberta Court of Justice or Alberta Court of Appeal. Searches will continue to be received by those courts in the normal fashion.
- If you are a "no fee" client requiring a civil document for a criminal proceeding, please submit your search request by email directly to the correct court location shown below in the More Information section.
- Searching by an accused name will produce a list of any charges against an accused person or company.
- The search fee is $10.00 to search for an accused person or company. This includes the viewing of one file.
- Certification fee is $10.00 per document. You must include the document name to be certified.
- Additional fees may be assessed by court offices, including photocopy fees, pursuant to the Alberta Rules of Court. All fees must be paid prior to release of service requested. A member of the court office will be in touch with you to arrange for payment.
- Viewing court files must be done in person at the location where the file is held. A member of the court office will be in touch with you to arrange an appointment.
- Copies of Clerk's endorsements can be obtained by completing the Party Name and Specific Court File Number fields. Please include the court date if known.
- To process Record Suspension documents, the court office will require the Criminal Record Check you received from the enforcement agency and the Court Information Form to complete and certify your request. For these requests, the court office will contact you and make arrangements to receive these documents. As some files are stored offsite, a delay in processing may occur. - Members of the public and the media do not have access to youth court information except as directed by the judge. To access youth court information, an Application for Release of Young Offender Data must be completed and authorized by the Attorney General prior to accessing those files. A link to that form can be found in the Court Information Access Guide for Alberta: Public & Media Access (albertacourts.ca).
- To request access to an exhibit, it is necessary to complete the form Request for Exhibit or Private Hearing Record and pay the search and copy fees. Only a judge can direct who has access to exhibits. Unless access to an exhibit is governed by statute or restricted by a sealing order, restricting access to an exhibit is a discretionary decision. Criminal Appeals Heard in Court of King's Bench:
- Appeals to the Court of King's Bench include appeals from decisions made in Alberta Court of Justice (traffic and criminal summary conviction matters) .
- Appeals to the Court of Appeal include appeals from any decision of a Court of King's Bench Justice or the verdict or finding of a jury, decisions of the Alberta Court of Justice in criminal indictment matters and in certain other matters where a right of appeal to the Court of Appeal is provided in legislation. If your request is for Court of Appeal records, those requests must be submitted directly to the Court of Appeal.
