    Description

    With a Certificate of Authentication your official documents will be recognized outside of Alberta.

    Documents executed in Alberta and signed by a Notary Public for Alberta are not usually acceptable in other countries, including the United States, without a Certificate of Authentication. An official of the Deputy Provincial Secretary's Office signs the certificate authenticating the appointment, the signature and the seal of the Notary Public.

    Please send the following items to the Deputy Provincial Secretary’s Office, by mail or in-person, to obtain your Certificates of Authentication:

    • Your documents, which must be signed, selaed, and dated by an Alberta lawyer or Notary Public;
    • Your receipt from MyAlberta eServices as proof of payment;
    • Your return address, so that materials may be returned;
    • Your written request for the authentication.

    The address for the office is:

            Deputy Provincial Secretary's Office
            Room 111, 9833 - 109 Street
            Edmonton Alberta T5K 2E8.

    Certificates and document will be returned to you by mail, unless other arrangements are made. You are responsible for any additional delivery expense, such as the cost of a private courier.

    Rules and Conditions

    Failure to provide a receipt with your request will delay the authentication process.

    Refunds:

    • In the event of an overpayment, you will get a refund in the same form of payment used for the original purchase.
