Business Security Services, Investigator and Locksmith Licences
Purchase or renew business security services, investigator, locksmith and automotive lock bypass business licences.
A receipt will be emailed to you once your payment has been processed. Please print the receipt and send it with your application or renewal forms as proof of payment.
Under the Security Services and Investigators Act, businesses working in the security, investigation and locksmith services industry must be licenced. Businesses which obtain security or investigative services from a contract company are not required to hold any type of licence.
A Contract User Licence is for a business or entity that employs or contracts individuals to sell, market or provide security, investigative or locksmith related services in any licence class.
A Registered User Licence is for a business or unit/department of a business that employs or engages individuals to provide security, investigative or locksmith related services.
Please note that the business licence fee for a sole proprietorship covers both the company and the owner’s individual licence.

- The licence fee covers the cost of processing your application and is required whether a licence is granted or not.
Find a Registry Agent
Select your registry agent. Registry agents offer registration, information and licensing services on behalf of government. The Government of Alberta is working collaboratively with registry agents to bring more government services online. You are not required to visit the selected registry agent.
