Details

Alberta's early settlers were drawn to the province with the promise of a homestead (a quarter section of land). Once settlers "proved up" the land (broke the land up, planted crops, built a house and barn and lived there for three years), homesteaders could apply for title of the land.

A homestead search costs less if you can provide a legal land description and the name of the patent holder.
