The Support our Troops licence plate honours current and former members of the Canadian Armed Forces. Unlike the veterans' plate, anyone can order the Support our Troops plate.

The design features artwork in honour of the first four Alberta-based Canadian soldiers whose lives were lost in Afghanistan in April 2002. 

Support your community

Most of the money raised from the plates will go toward the Support our Troops program, managed by Canadian Force Morale and Welfare Servies to assist military members and their families.

  • Support our Troops plates are only available for passenger vehicles used personal transportation.
  • Letters and numbers are issued in sequential order; they cannot be personalized. 
  • Plates will be mailed directly from the manufacturer. 
  • After receiving your Support Our Troops specialty licence plate, you have two choices; you can do nothing or register it to a class 3 passenger vehicle by visiting any registry agent location.
  • Registration can be done at the time of vehicle registration renewal for no extra fees or at any time prior to renewal - standard registration and licence plate exchange fees will apply.
  • Registration must be done prior to affixing the licence plate to your vehicle. 
  • The Support our Troops plate does not replace the veterans' plate, which are only issued to eligible members of the military. 
  • You cannot exchange a veterans' plate for a Support our Troops plate.
  • Support our Troops plates can only be registered in the name that it is ordered in. If you are affixing the plate to an existing vehicle registration, please check your vehicle registration prior to ordering. If the vehicle is registered in a different name, or more than one name, please attend a registry agent to order your plate.
